Cessna began manufacturing The Citation XL Medium Jet in 1998 and continues to do so today. The Citation XL has a maximum range (subject to headwinds, high altitude, hot temperatures, or higher capacity) of 1981 miles and a maximum speed of 496 mph. Common names and abbreviations: CE-560-XL, CE-560-XL. The Cessna Citation Model 560XL is member of the wide-ranging Citation brand of business jets, starting from the Excel and later evolving into the Citation XLS and then the Citation XLS+ models. With the success of Cessna's Citation VII, the manufacturer saw a market for an aircraft with the Citation X's features but aimed at a more traditional market. Rather than being a direct variant of another Citation airframe, the Excel was a combination of technologies and designs.
