This Cancellation & Refund Policy explains the circumstances in which cancellations, refunds, credits, reversals or other remedies may be available for bookings made through the Sea of Seats website, mobile application or other authorised booking channels.
Sea of Seats operates as an online booking and ticketing platform and may facilitate bookings for movies, concerts, events, sports, entertainment, travel, hotels, transportation and other services provided by third-party organisers, venues, operators and service providers.
By making a booking through Sea of Seats, you acknowledge and agree to this Refund Policy together with our Terms & Conditions and any booking-specific cancellation conditions displayed before payment.
1. General Refund Principle
Refund eligibility depends on the type of booking, the applicable Service Provider's cancellation rules, the timing of cancellation and the circumstances resulting in cancellation.
Not every ticket or booking is refundable.
Before completing a transaction, Customers should carefully review:
- Cancellation conditions;
- Refund eligibility;
- Cancellation charges;
- Booking/convenience fees;
- Applicable taxes;
- Event or service-specific restrictions;
- Any other conditions displayed during checkout.
The cancellation and refund terms specifically displayed for a particular booking shall generally apply to that booking, subject to applicable law.
2. Customer-Initiated Cancellation
Where cancellation is permitted, the Customer may request cancellation through the available Sea of Seats cancellation mechanism or by contacting Customer Support.
The refund amount, if any, will depend on the cancellation rules applicable to the relevant booking.
The following may be deducted where applicable:
- Cancellation charges: a cancellation fee of 75% of the total booking cost is applicable;
- Service charges;
- Convenience fees;
- Processing charges;
- Payment gateway charges;
- Supplier-imposed charges;
- Other non-refundable amounts expressly disclosed during booking.
Where a booking is expressly identified as non-cancellable or non-refundable, no refund shall ordinarily be available unless otherwise required by applicable law or the relevant Service Provider agrees to an exception.
3. Event or Service Cancellation by Organiser
If an event, show, match, movie, travel service, hotel reservation or other service is cancelled by the relevant organiser or Service Provider, Sea of Seats will make reasonable efforts to notify affected Customers.
Depending on the instructions received from the relevant Service Provider, Customers may receive:
- A full refund;
- A partial refund;
- A replacement booking;
- Rescheduled booking;
- Credit or voucher;
- Another remedy offered by the Service Provider.
Where a full refund is authorised, Sea of Seats will process the eligible amount in accordance with the applicable payment and refund procedures.
4. Postponement or Rescheduling
An event or service may be postponed or rescheduled rather than cancelled.
In such circumstances, the original ticket may remain valid for the revised date or time, subject to the organiser's terms.
Where the organiser permits cancellation because of a postponement, Customers may be given the opportunity to request a refund within the period specified by the organiser.
If the Customer chooses to attend the rescheduled event or use the rescheduled service, the booking may not subsequently qualify for cancellation unless specifically permitted.
5. Change in Venue, Timing or Programme
An organiser or Service Provider may change:
- Venue;
- Date;
- Time;
- Seating configuration;
- Performer;
- Line-up;
- Match schedule;
- Route;
- Flight schedule;
- Hotel arrangements;
- Other service details.
Where such changes occur, Sea of Seats will communicate material changes when information is made available to us.
Refund rights, if any, will depend on the policy established by the relevant Service Provider and applicable law.
6. Movie Ticket Cancellation
Movie-ticket cancellation may be available only where the relevant cinema or booking partner permits cancellation.
The applicable cancellation deadline and charges, if any, will be displayed during booking.
Once the permitted cancellation period has expired, the ticket may become non-refundable.
If a cinema cancels a show or is unable to provide the booked screening, Sea of Seats will process the remedy communicated by the relevant cinema or Service Provider.
7. Event Tickets
Concerts, festivals, comedy shows, exhibitions, parties and other events may have event-specific refund conditions.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, event tickets may be non-refundable once issued.
Where an event organiser cancels the event, the organiser's approved refund process will apply.
Sea of Seats will communicate the available refund or alternative arrangement to affected Customers once the relevant information is received.
8. Sports Bookings
Sports events may be subject to changes caused by weather, venue conditions, league decisions, governing bodies, broadcasters or other circumstances.
A match or sporting event being postponed does not automatically mean that a ticket is refundable.
Refund eligibility will depend on the policy announced by the relevant organiser, league, venue or ticketing authority.
If the event is officially cancelled and a refund is authorised, Sea of Seats will process the applicable refund.
9. Travel Bookings
Flights, railway tickets, bus tickets, metro tickets and other transportation bookings may be subject to the cancellation and refund rules of the relevant operator.
Airline or transportation cancellations may include:
- Operator cancellation fees;
- Fare restrictions;
- Administrative charges;
- Taxes;
- Payment-related charges;
- Other applicable deductions.
Sea of Seats will not be responsible for refund amounts that a transportation operator lawfully withholds under its applicable fare or cancellation conditions.
10. Hotel Bookings
Hotel cancellations are governed by the cancellation conditions applicable to the particular property and rate selected at the time of booking.
Some hotel rates may be:
- Fully refundable;
- Partially refundable;
- Refundable until a specified deadline;
- Completely non-refundable.
Any applicable cancellation deadline and charges will be displayed during the booking process wherever available.
Failure to check in ("No-Show") may result in forfeiture of the booking amount in accordance with the applicable hotel's policy.
11. Non-Refundable Bookings
Certain bookings may be specifically marked as "Non-Refundable" or may carry equivalent restrictions.
Examples may include:
- Promotional tickets;
- Discounted fares;
- Special hotel rates;
- Certain event tickets;
- Certain travel bookings;
- Last-minute bookings;
- Supplier-restricted inventory.
For such bookings, cancellation may not result in a refund unless expressly permitted by the Service Provider or required by applicable law.
12. Convenience and Service Fees
A booking may include a convenience fee, service fee, platform fee or other applicable charge.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, such charges may be non-refundable even when the underlying ticket amount is refunded.
Where a refund is initiated because Sea of Seats or a Service Provider is responsible for an error, applicable charges will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the circumstances of the transaction.
13. Payment Gateway and Processing Charges
Payments may be processed through banks, payment gateways, card networks and other payment service providers.
Where permitted by law and disclosed to the Customer, payment-processing or transaction-related charges may be non-refundable.
Any charges independently imposed by the Customer's bank, card issuer or financial institution are generally outside Sea of Seats' control.
14. Failed Transactions
If money has been debited from the Customer's bank account or payment instrument but the booking is not successfully confirmed, Sea of Seats will investigate the transaction.
Where the booking has not been confirmed and the payment has been successfully received, the eligible amount will generally be reversed or refunded to the original payment method.
The time taken for the amount to appear in the Customer's account may depend on the relevant bank, card issuer or payment service provider.
Customers should retain their transaction reference or payment confirmation when contacting support.
15. Duplicate Payment
If a Customer is charged more than once for the same booking due to a technical or payment-processing issue, Sea of Seats will investigate the duplicate transaction.
Where a duplicate payment is confirmed and no corresponding booking has been created for the additional payment, the eligible excess amount will be refunded or reversed.
16. Refund Method
Where possible, refunds will be processed to the original payment method used for the booking.
For example:
- Card payment → refund to the applicable card/payment account;
- UPI payment → refund through the applicable payment mechanism;
- Net banking → refund through the relevant payment channel;
- Wallet → refund according to the applicable wallet/payment rules.
Sea of Seats may require additional information where necessary to process a refund securely.
17. Refund Processing Time
After a refund has been approved or initiated, the time required for the funds to become available may vary depending on:
- Payment method;
- Bank;
- Card issuer;
- Payment gateway;
- International payment network;
- Currency conversion;
- Service Provider;
- Other financial intermediaries.
Sea of Seats will generally initiate an eligible refund within the applicable operational timeframe after approval.
The actual credit date may be determined by the bank or payment provider.
18. International Transactions
Customers making payments from outside India may receive refunds subject to the original payment method, applicable foreign-exchange regulations and payment-network procedures.
The amount ultimately received by an international Customer may differ from the original amount due to:
- Currency fluctuations;
- Foreign-exchange conversion;
- Bank charges;
- Card issuer charges;
- International transaction fees;
- Other charges imposed by financial institutions.
Sea of Seats cannot control charges independently imposed by a Customer's bank or card issuer.
19. Partial Refunds
In certain situations, only part of a booking may be eligible for cancellation or refund.
Examples may include:
- Partial cancellation of passengers;
- Cancellation of selected seats;
- Cancellation of some tickets within a larger order;
- Partial service failure;
- Refunds authorised by the Service Provider.
The applicable refund will be calculated according to the relevant booking terms.
20. No-Shows
If a Customer fails to attend an event, cinema screening, hotel stay, flight, train, bus or other booked service without completing a permitted cancellation, the booking may be treated as a No-Show.
No refund may be available for a No-Show unless the applicable Service Provider's terms specifically provide otherwise.
21. Customer's Failure to Meet Entry Conditions
A refund may not be available where the Customer is refused entry or service because the Customer:
- Does not carry required identification;
- Does not satisfy age restrictions;
- Violates venue rules;
- Arrives after the permitted entry time;
- Presents an invalid, altered or duplicated ticket;
- Fails to satisfy travel-document requirements;
- Otherwise fails to comply with applicable admission or service conditions.
The Customer is responsible for checking applicable entry and identification requirements before attending or using a booked service.
22. Fraudulent or Unauthorised Transactions
Where Sea of Seats reasonably suspects fraud, misuse, unauthorised payment activity or violation of applicable law, the transaction may be placed on hold, cancelled or subjected to verification.
Refunds relating to suspicious transactions may be processed only after appropriate verification and in accordance with applicable law.
23. Chargebacks
Customers should contact Sea of Seats Customer Support before initiating a payment dispute or chargeback where the issue concerns a booking, refund or service.
If a Customer initiates a chargeback, Sea of Seats may provide relevant transaction records to the payment provider, bank or card network for investigation.
Nothing in this section limits any rights available to Customers under applicable law or payment-network rules.
24. Vouchers, Credits and Promotional Balances
Where a refund is provided in the form of a voucher, credit or promotional balance, its:
- Validity;
- Usage conditions;
- Transferability;
- Expiry;
- Restrictions;
- Refundability.
Shall be governed by the terms communicated with the voucher or credit.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, promotional credits may not be exchangeable for cash.
25. Cancellation by Sea of Seats
Sea of Seats may cancel a booking where reasonably necessary because of:
- Payment failure;
- Suspected fraud;
- Incorrect pricing;
- Technical error;
- Unavailability;
- Duplicate booking;
- Service Provider instruction;
- Violation of booking conditions;
- Legal or regulatory requirements;
- Circumstances beyond reasonable control.
Where a booking is cancelled by Sea of Seats for reasons attributable to Sea of Seats, the applicable refund will be processed in accordance with applicable law and the circumstances of the cancellation.
26. Force Majeure
No refund shall automatically become due solely because a service is affected by circumstances beyond the control of Sea of Seats.
Such circumstances may include:
- Natural disasters;
- Severe weather;
- War;
- Terrorism;
- Civil disturbances;
- Government restrictions;
- Pandemics;
- Strikes;
- Technical infrastructure failures;
- Transport disruptions;
- Other extraordinary events.
Where a Service Provider establishes a refund, rescheduling or alternative arrangement, Sea of Seats will communicate the applicable option to Customers where reasonably practicable.
