Short Getaway to Madurai & Rameswaram

An early morning flight to Madurai. Pick up on arrival at Madurai Airport and proceed to Rameshwaram. En route, stop at Pamban Bridge for photography and later check in at the hotel.

In the afternoon, we will do a sightseeing tour of Rameshwaram. The temple here is highly famous among Hindu pilgrims all around the globe. Visit the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial and other attractions in and around.

Today, after breakfast, you will visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva (if not visited yesterday). It is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples and is known for its grandiose architecture. Next, visit Adam’s Bridge or Rama Setu, a chain of limestone shoals between Pamban Island and Mannar Island. You will be taken to Dhanushkodi, the beautiful ruin at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island.

Later, return to the hotel, and the remaining time in the evening is free at your own leisure or for shopping.

Today morning, check out after breakfast and return drive to Madurai. Check in to the hotel and freshen up.

Later, visit Meenakshi Temple, said to have been built in the 6th Century BC. After visiting Meenakshi Temple, proceed to Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple, a rock-cut temple which is believed to have been built by the Pandyas during the 6th Century. Later (if time permits), visit Thirumalai Nayak Palace, the regal palace of the Nayaks of Madurai, which will give you a deeper understanding of the local history, and the Gandhi Museum.
